Casey Cares Foundation names CEO Wanda Smith as the 2017 “Champion of Children” award recipient!
Casey Cares Foundation has named Wanda Smith, CEO of Symphony Placements, along with the Baltimore Ravens as the 2017 Champion of Children award recipients.
Wanda first volunteered with Casey Cares, after watching a segment of the TV reality show Secret Millionaire. She fondly recalls, “I was watching this TV show, and I saw the founder of Auntie Anne’s Pretzels working with Casey Cares to help all of these ill children and their families. I was truly overwhelmed, and I thought, I gotta get involved with that!
Wanda has volunteered and served as a Board member for Casey Cares for the past four years. She has also served as the Chair for the organizations’ annual golf outing at the Hunt Valley Golf Club. The golf outing has historically been one of the foundation’s biggest fundraisers.
Wanda also hosts an annual company holiday party each year to support Casey Cares. In 2016 she, along with her family and friends, raised over $7500 and donated over 350 pairs of pajamas to the organization.
“I love this organization because 100% of the money is used for the children. In addition to supporting the critically ill child, Casey Cares provides activities and memories that really support the bonding of the entire family. Tickets to a baseball game can help take everyone’s mind off the crisis at hand and create lasting memories. I’m so proud to be able to support this wonderful cause,” Wanda commented.
Wanda was recognized, along with The Baltimore Ravens, at a March 25, 2017, gala at the American Visionary Art Museum. At the event, she also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor of Baltimore. Pandora jewelry, headquartered here in Baltimore, also presented Wanda with the first charm produced exclusively to benefit the Casey Cares Foundation.
Symphony Placements is proud of our CEO and pleased to be able to give back to the local community by supporting organizations like Casey Cares Foundation.
